Sharing America's Marrow (SAM) was a year-long journey for two sisters and a friend in a quest to raise blood cancer awareness, demystify bone marrow donations and register potential donors. More than that, one of the sisters, Sam Kimura, was diagnosed with aplastic anemia, a rare blood disease, while in college.
The website that was developed had two main goals: provide easy donor registration and draw people into the SAM story.
By the end of the year, SAM had collected nearly 25,000 new registrations, 400 donor matches who became someone's hero, and had been featured on the Huffington Post, CBS News, People Magazine, Cosmopolitan Magazine, and more.
